Process of Sweater Manufacturing | Step 4 of 8

8/29/2019

Hello, my friends,

We are going to talk about process No. 4 of the sweater process; they are parts knitting, parts QC, and special trims.
After the previous three steps, we already know the design we need to produce, the yarn we need to use, on which GG machines to knit, and also, we have the technical file and knitting program ready on hand.

So now we can move on to parts knitting. Normally a programmer takes charge of this process. They copy the knitting program into the machine and put the correct yarns on the machine. During the process, the programmer needs marks on the machines; they need to see if any unexpected issues happen, like yarn breaking, bad knitting tension, or broken parts. In case any of them happens, they need to stop the machine immediately and find the reason. The main reasons are:

1-not good enough program,

2-not well-adjusted machines,

3- bad yarns.

In a word, they need to use the best program and best knitting speed to knit on the best-adjusted machines. In this way, they can make improvements for coming bulk production. They need to report to the yarn purchasing department if it's because of yarns. I guess many people think the whole sweater was done by one time on machines. But actually not. All parts are knitted separately.

The front, back, sleeve, collar, and bottom rib have all been knitted separately. We do have one-time-knit technology, but it's still not popular now due to the higher cost.

The next step is part of QC. As we mentioned before, the QC process goes from beginning to end. QC department needs to check if there are any defects on parts. The results are:

1- Small defects will repair by hand, so there is no need to re-work machines. Meanwhile, they need to make a record and make comments to the knitting department to make sure no more problems in bulk;

2- Big defects. No choices; we normally record it as a serious production accident case. The only solution is to remake the related parts. And also need to make a record and report to the knitting department and factory chief. The factory chief needs to take solutions to make sure no more similar accidents happen again.

After the QC process, the linking department will take on the next price, generally speaking. Ss. But before linking, we also need to consider the special trims process. This is very important.

For exampPrintrint, beading, embroidery, etc.

Why do we have to consider the special trims process before linking?

For examPrintrint.

A clever solution is to make marks on parts during the knitting process; we can leave some small holes to locate the exact position of Printing during the knitting process.

A bad solution is to make print position marks by hand; they will be inevitable mistakes when different workers of different sizes get involved. Hand-made marks are usually yarn threads attached to the sweater body; print pigment falls on these threads easily...

All of these may cause defects and non-fixable defects... You can imagine the huge loss... The only solution is to remake.

And the same story for embroidery, beading, etc...

Okay, thanks for reading, and I wish you guys fruitful business!!
