Chapter 15. How to calculate volume and chargeable weight when importing from a Christmas Sweater Manufacturer?

In the process of freight transportation of Christmas Sweaters, the volume weight is always larger than its actual gross weight. Forwarders will charge the cost base on volume weight. In fact, volume and weight can't be exchanged each other in reality, it's just a special case in transportation to calculate the cost.It's important to calculate volume weight correctly to figure out the freight cost accordingly;

• Some e-commerce platform like Amazon got limit on carton sizes, we have to pay attention when ordering cartons;
  
• Adjust carton size is good way to lower freight cost!!

Calculation method:

By courier express: Length * Width * Height / 5000;
By air: Length * Width * Height / 5000;
By sea: Length * Width * Height / 6000;

Calculation method of courier express is same as by Air

For example:

In reality, due to huge quantity of packages, vessel, air shipments every day, forwarders measure the volume by infrared measurement machines.

What we need to pay attention to is:

1. Pack cartons in good shape. Any deformation of cartons can produce a higher volume weight;
2. To be safe, when calculating the freight, it's better to work based on the 2cm bigger Length, Width, and Height of cartons.

So we don't lose any money because of volume weight issues.
